I have nothing but commendation for the immense amount of patience the counter employees exude each time I walk in the door. Even if the line is out the door, they try their best to help people. Please extend them the same courtesy and view them as equal to yourself, not some lower kind of person because they work at the post office. In my years of being self-employed, and dealing with suppliers and shippers, the employees at the Phoenixville post office surpass in dedication many with whom I have had contact. Please show them respect, they deserve it, their job is not easy, and they are not here to be your doormat. Thank you Terry, John, Marina, and Orlando!
I've called the post office for help several times in the past. Whoever I talked to has always been extremely helpful, answered my questions, looked up information for me. I find the USPS website sometimes tricky to navigate, so the post office is my go-to for information. I just called about a mailing question and received prompt, accurate information. Thanks to the staff at USPS Phoenixville.
Apparently the mail carriers and postmaster for the Phoenixville office believe that their status of federal employees entitle them to certain perks...like parking delivery trucks in handicapped spots because walking 10 extra feet from other open spots is too difficult. For 2 hours today, the postal truck sat in my elderly neighbor's designated handicapped parking spot. The postmaster didn't give a damn that my neighbor could fall again and further injure herself. The postmaster's only concern was the outgoing mail not making it back to the office by the deadline and having to pay the carrier's overtime. Last I checked, the post office is funded through federal tax money, stamp sales, and delivery fees... not the postmaster's personal wallet. Had the carrier not acted like an entitled twerp or if the postmaster had reprimanded the carrier and required him to move the ILLEGALLY parked mail truck, then the deadline would not have been an issue to begin with.
Being a business owner, I am at the Phoenixville post office nearly every day. I am always treated with respect and professionalism, although I have seen customers treat the postal counter employees with disdain and disrespect. Before you decide to air your problems to these wonderful people, please consider the immense amount of stress they are under in dealing with everyone's packages, especially those who decide they want the counter people to wrap and tape and address their packages for them, like they are a UPS store. They are not, and they are not required to tape your packages, either, yet they do this because they are service-dedicated.
Never had a problem with the people that work here. They have always greeted me with a smile.
They could definitely use an upgraded customer service lesson. It's wrong to blame the shipper for you losing my mail. Sometimes you're an A+ post service, others a total F. Maybe some better staffing and coordinating would help. Heavily considering using a more reliable courier.
